Funeral Consumers Alliance North Carolina (FCANC) is a grassroots, all volunteer, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on funeral consumer education and advocacy.
We’ve been referred to as “the Consumer Reports®”of the state funeral industry because of our dedication in protecting consumers’ rights to choose a meaningful and affordable funeral.
Our History
FCANC came into existence in January 2020 when the three active chapters within the state decided to merge:
- Funeral Consumers Alliance of Coastal Carolina based in Wilmington.
- Funeral Consumers Alliance of Western North Carolina in Asheville.
- Funeral Consumers Alliance of the Piedmont in Greensboro.
Two other regional chapters–Funeral Consumers Alliance of the Triangle in Raleigh and Funeral Consumers of Central Carolinas in Charlotte–were no longer active. These two key metro areas of North Carolina are now being served by FCANC.
We are an affiliate of the national organization Funeral Consumers Alliance, the only national consumer organization that monitors the funeral industry and advocates on behalf of consumers for fair pricing and practices.
With one, strong, unified chapter now in our state, FCANC is able to focus our efforts and reach more North Carolinians.
