Funeral Consumers Alliance of the Piedmont was organized at a public meeting in Greensboro on June 5, 2008.
At that meeting, seven attendees volunteered to serve as a temporary steering committee to give shape to the chapter, including writing bylaws and nominating a board of directors.
Their work throughout the years included many educational and consumer awareness activities such as a thanatology book club, cemetery guide and directory, public presentations on The Twelve Funeral Myths and a Death Expo in 2018.
It’s important we remember one of our founding board members:
In Memoriam: Holly Allen Sevens (1955 – 2011)
Holly was the guiding light who helped create and nurture the establishment of the FCA-Piedmont chapter in 2008. She worked steadfastly and tirelessly on this endeavor because it was a cause so near and dear to her heart. People around the world still benefit from her published work Undertaken with Love, a manual for congregations and communities about family-directed funerals.
